IndEX operates as a comprehensive digital platform designed to connect professionals and educators through an integrated CRM system. Its intelligent matching engine automatically creates tailored connections based on key parameters such as industry skills linked to subject-area key concepts, academic level, location, and availability. Matches are then further refined by industry sector, specific expertise, the Key Stage support requested by schools, and the type of engagement, such as masterclasses, projects, or mentoring.
The four areas of engagement
Employer engagement takes many forms, but at its core, it links learning with the real world. To clarify and make this accessible, we group all activities into four strands – Inspire, Create, Prepare, and Experience. Together, these offer a complete journey; from sparking ambition through masterclasses, to addressing real challenges in projects, to developing professional skills, and ultimately applying knowledge in the workplace. Each strand has a specific purpose, but when combined, they form a powerful framework that guarantees learners are not only motivated in the classroom but also fully equipped for life beyond it.
IndEX Inspire (Masterclasses)
Bringing professionals into the classroom gives learners direct access to industry role models who can ignite ambition and raise aspirations. Their voices bring relevance to the curriculum by linking key concepts to real-world applications, technologies, and innovations. These sessions motivate learners to see the value of their learning and provide them with practical career awareness. Alongside inspiration, learners develop key transferable skills such as communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability, while also gaining confidence in engaging with professional adults.
IndEX Create (Projects)
Working on live briefs set by employers enables learners to step into the role of problem-solvers. They apply knowledge and skills to tackle real-world challenges, fostering creativity, resilience, and teamwork. Receiving formative feedback from professionals strengthens their ability to reflect, refine, and improve, mirroring workplace expectations. These projects promote collaboration, leadership awareness, and presentation skills, while deepening subject knowledge by embedding it in a real-world context.
IndEX Prepare (Skills)
Practical preparation for the workplace equips learners with the confidence to take their next steps. Through mentoring, CV workshops, interview practice, and careers guidance, learners learn how to present themselves professionally and understand what employers are looking for. They gain insight into workplace behaviours, transferable skills, and personal strengths, while developing the confidence to navigate applications, assessments, and career decisions with clarity. This strand provides learners with the professional tool-kit to transition smoothly from education to employment.
IndEX Experience (Placements)
Spending time in real workplaces provides learners with invaluable opportunities to apply their knowledge in authentic environments. Placements, whether through T Levels, internships, or work experience, enable learners to understand the realities of professional life, develop resilience, and adapt to different organisational cultures. These hands-on experiences help learners strengthen employability skills such as teamwork, time management, and problem-solving while building networks that may lead to future opportunities. The result is a direct bridge between education and employment, giving young people a head start in their chosen pathways.
